How I Discovered Sally Quinlan and the Golf Academy
Like a lot of tennis players, I had to give up the game a few years ago due to knee problems. I not only missed the physical activity but even more the fresh air and sunshine and camaraderie of the game. And so, I turned to golf and picked up my first club in May of 2007 at a Ladies Beginning class at another golf course in town.
I liked it so much that I completed the group lessons there and had a few private lessons as well – however, I was becoming discouraged because the lessons were only performed by rote on the driving range, I couldn’t find ladies to play a round and there were no programs for us, etc. Then a friend showed me the Thousand Oaks Star article about the Los Robles Summer Ladies’ League. The rest is history…
Sally Quinlan has created a golf environment for women that is not only highly instructional and challenging without intimidation but also a lot of fun! She is innovative in her approach to providing classes for all levels as well as special group sessions for unique golf situations. I don’t know of any other golf course that has so much to offer for women players: fall and winter Golf Connect evening meetings, 1-4 day golf trips to beautiful resorts, Scrambles, continual Saturday and Monday tee times for the Ladies’ League, all levels of Academy lessons throughout each month…and more.
Sally’s philosophy of having fun while learning a difficult yet rewarding sport makes it all worthwhile…she is always encouraging and has a huge sense of humor that is infectious. If I hadn’t found her and the Academy, I would not be enjoying the game as much as I do. With her guidance, my game is steadily improving along with my confidence level.
Another result of the Academy is the bringing together women of all ages and backgrounds who share the same goals. I have made many friends and find that a good golf game is only an email away…
My thanks to Sally Quinlan who is always looking for creative ways to make this game the best walk in the park a woman ever had…!
