Advanced Player Program - New!!! The Golf Academy of Ventura County is proud to announce our first lesson program for junior golfers more advanced in skill level. This program is specifically designed for junior golfers that are interested in pursuing or are already involved in competitive golf. It is perfect for juniors playing or wanting to play local golf tours (VCJGA or SCPGA) or those wanting to play on a middle school or high school golf team. All Advanced Player Classes and Events will help participants continue to build excellent technical skills as well as develop the critical goal setting, self-management and judgement skills required to be a successful competitive player. Criteria to participate: Open to Boys & Girls Ages 10-15. Participants must have over 20 rounds of playing experience, be a registered member of www.golfacademyvc.com and be Advanced Player certified by a GAVC Instructor. Participants that have completed the Black stage in our regular Junior Golf Academy program are automatically elligible. Advanced Player Programs: GAVC Golf Team Prep Program - Winter/Spring Season begins January 23, 2009! Organized and instructed by Dan Martin, PGA and Mary Sweeney, In an effort to help juniors prepare for playing on High School and Middle School Golf Teams, we are proud to announce the Golf Team Preparatory Program. Participants in this program will be placed on to one of 3 golf teams: APP Golf Team Prep Clinics - New for Fall 2008!!! Participants will practice all parts of the game and receive professional instruction on full swing, short game, rules and etiquette. Participants will also be coached on non-technical aspects of the game vital to being a competitive golfer. They will develop tools to improve their physical fitness, self-management, interpersonal skills and mental and emotional control through exposure to The First Tee Life Skills Experience. Credits: 3 Duration: 1.5 hours APP Golf Team On Course Player Development Matches Participants will meet at the Golf Course and will gather in their respective teams and be led through a brief 30 minute “playing focus” clinic. Then they will hit the course and play a 6-hole or 9-hole team match in different formats. Coaches and instructors will roam the course to help juniors with course management, self-management, rules, and other coachable moments that arise when playing competitive golf. Each team will receive points based on how they finish in each match. Special double-points and triple-points matches will be scheduled towards the end of the season. Credits: 4 Duration: approximately 3 hours APP Golf Team Skills Challenges- New for Fall 2008!!! Participants will compete with their respective teams in various skills challenges on all parts of the game. Contests will take place on the course and be geared towards helping students gain mastery of golf skills and mental/emotional tools for performing under pressure. Credits: 3 Duration: 1.5 hours APP Guest Appearances From time to time, we will have local touring professionals make guest appearances and help conduct our programs. So far PGA Tour Pro Steve Pate and Senior Tour pros Jon Fiedler and Pat Laverty have come out to share their experience and insights with our participants.
